Like most school, Harding has professional days for teachers. This Monday, November 3, is one of those days. The teachers and staff will be at school—but your students will not be. #catchinguponhomework

Thursday, November 6, marks the half-way point in this second quarter. That means there is about as much time left in the quarter as we have already had, and students have that much time to make amends in their grades if they need to. Three weeks after Midquarter is Thanksgiving. Six weeks after Midquarter is semester examinations. Urge your students to look at the calendar and to see not only how little time is left but also how many holiday events will be interrupting this quarter. Now is a good time to do some planning. The bands will be hosting a Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A at Poplar just west of Mendenhall on Wednesday night, November 5, 3:00–5:00. All you have to do is order food as usual but tell the employee that you are there for the Harding band. Chick-fil-A will donate 20% of what they make to go toward our band students' trips to Gatlinburg and California. Please pass this information along to family, friends, church groups, and neighbors!
We celebrate each time a student aces an AP exam or scores a touchdown. We want all of our students to be strong in faith and strong in character. Our most treasured task is helping students develop the courage to employ their unique gifts for God's transformative work here on earth. Come meet the faculty and staff who will impact and transform your child at Harding Academy on Sunday, November 16! We hope that anyone and everyone associated with Harding Academy will feel invited to celebrate Veterans Day with us on November 11. Parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, and friends are invited. Come and be a part of a moving tribute to veterans who have served their country and have risked their lives for our freedom. Saturday, November 8, offers opportunities for everyone to celebrate Memphis, have some fun with families and friends, and help Harding Academy, all at the same time. Runners, Ghost Runners, and kids will start the day with the Happy in Memphis 5k Run. You are encouraged to dress to represent what makes you happy in Memphis. So…whether you come as Elvis or a pulled barbecue sandwich, you will find that this 5k is professionally run by Start2Finish. The Happy in Memphis 5k is followed by a Fall Festival on campus. We'll have a dunk tank, a pie-in-the-face booth, bake sales, games for all ages, and food, food, food! It's a great place to bring your family. You can register online for the Happy in Memphis 5k. Click here. Seniors will go to see Tennessee Shakespeare Company's production of Shakespeare's Richard III on Friday, October 31. |
